While there are lots of Toastmasters clubs to choose from in our Tennessee cities, we would love to have you visit us here in Knoxville, for our Downtown Speakers club. Last year we received the Presidential Distinguished Club award, and plan to again seek another Distinguished Club award this year.
This is a club for people interested in improving their speaking skills, as well as their listening and communicating abilities in general. We afford members the opportunity to speak in front of the group in lots of ways, including
Giving a planned speech, typically 5-7 minutes, speaking spontaneously for a minute on a given topic, evaluating a speech or a meeting, timing the speakers, counting inappropriate grammar trends (ah, um, you know, …), offering an opening thought for the meeting, or delivering & defining a ‘word of the day’ for all to use.
